The journal “Family Upbringing” is funded by publishing fees.
The journal “Family Upbringing” in the period from 18 October 2022 to 18 October 2024 has been qualified for funding from the Ministry of Education and Science under the Development of Scientific Journals programme, based on the agreement RCN/SN/0666/2021/1 [Item 49 of the List of applications qualified for de minimis aid under the Development of Scientific Journals programme].
Funding was provided for the creation of the journal’s IT infrastructure, including the modernisation of the website, the implementation of the Editorial System and the Journal System, the implementation of an anti-plagiarism programme equipped with AI detection, a bibliography manager and an automatic information system for the scientific community. In addition, the funds will be used to finance the translation of the best research papers into English. Detailed measures are included in the information obligation below.
Information obligation:
Modernisation of the journal website. It was funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, based on contract no. RCN/SN/0666/2021/1 dated December 22, 2022. This activity made it possible to modernise and host the “Family Upbringing” journal website on an English-language domain, as well as to apply the WCAG 2.1 AA standard, which allows for a dynamic layout of content, friendly to audiences using different types of devices. One of the significant functionalities of the modernised website is its adaptation to the needs of people with disabilities, in particular the visually impaired. The financial support granted as part of the “Development of Scientific Journals” programme amounts to PLN 79,890.96, including PLN 11,000 for the modernisation of the website.
Implementation of an article submissions system and implementation of a bibliography manager. It was funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, based on contract no. RCN/SN/0666/2021/1 of December 22, 2022, and it enabled the implementation of the Editorial Submission System, which allows for the professionalisation of data management, tracking of the publication procedure, and anonymisation of personal data of authors and reviewers, which makes the double-blind review procedure and RODO regulations sufficient. In turn, the implementation of the Journal System content presentation system allows articles to be published in the open access system, as well as tracking citations of articles published in “Family Upbringing”. An important functionality of the system is the fact that the user interface is bilingual and that it is adapted to the needs of disabled people, especially the visually impaired. An additional practicality is the built-in bibliography manager module, which enables automatic export of bibliographies to various formats. The amount of funding granted as part of the “Development of Scientific Journals” programme is PLN 79,890.96, including PLN 10,000 for implementing the submissions system and PLN 500 for implementing the bibliography manager.
Implementation of an anti-plagiarism system. It was funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, based on contract no. RCN/SN/0666/2021/1 of December 22, 2022, and it enabled the implementation of the following anti-plagiarism systems: iThenticate to verify English-language texts and Antyplagiat to verify Polish-language texts, which make it possible to estimate the originality of a word product by generating percentage similarity coefficients. The amount of funding granted as part of the “Development of Scientific Journals” programme is PLN 79,890.96, including PLN 10763.76 for the implementation of the anti-plagiarism system.
Introduction of an automated system for informing members of the academic community. It was funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, based on contract no. RCN/SN/0666/2021/1 of December 22, 2022, and it enabled the introduction of an automatic system to inform academic community members about the latest scientific reports published in the journal “Family Upbringing”. The amount of funds constituting support granted as part of the “Development of Scientific Journals” programme is PLN 79,890.96, including PLN 12627.20 for the implementation of an automatic system for informing members of the academic community.
Translation of research papers into English. It was funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, based on contract no. RCN/SN/0666/2021/1 of December 22, 2022, and it has made it possible to increase the level of internationalisation of the journal by translating research papers into English. Dissemination of full-text English-language scientific articles in the open access system can, in a decisive way, contribute to increasing the visibility of Polish researchers’ reports abroad. The amount of funding granted as part of the programme “Development of Scientific Journals” is PLN 79,890.96, including PLN 35,000 for the translation of research papers into English.
